All Quetzal Coffee is purchased green from as many sustainable sources as we can determine.
In the not to distant past we were primarily an organic and fair trade roaster. While this worked well for us for awhile we have determined that it limits our ability to purchase more interesting green coffee.
By ending our certification with both organic and fair trade we open the door to not only these coffees but also rain forest alliance groups and other groups that are concerned about sustainability.
The certification process produces an enormous burden of fees and paperwork. We would rather spend our time and money on selection and price. In the future we will revisit the certification process but for now we believe our energies are better spent on getting a good selection of sustainable coffees and affordable prices.
For those coffees that we purchase green that are organic and fair trade that information will be available on request.
